Symphony in a Day gives adult amateur orchestral musicians the opportunity to rehearse and perform alongside musicians of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra for a very special concert.

Join members of the MSO and conducting rising star Nathaniel Griffiths for a whirlwind preparation and performance of a well-known classical work in the heart of Arts Centre Melbourne, Hamer Hall.
We welcome amateur orchestral musicians who, as of the first rehearsal, are aged 18 or over as of 4 May 2026. Instrumentalists must be Grade 6 level or above (or equivalent).
Positions are open for the following instruments: violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba and percussion.
Your position in the orchestra is subject to payment of the participation fee. You must be available for all rehearsals.
